Welcome to the Darkness Therapy Institute
The Darkness Therapy Institute delivers the first evidence-based, ethically guided training system that empowers facilitators to offer deeply restorative, darkness immersion experiences with the potential to reduce anxiety, calm the nervous system, and create lasting psychological and emotional transformation in an overstimulated world.
We are a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on the educational and research aspects of darkness therapy. At the Darkness Therapy Institute, our network of leading researchers, experienced facilitators, and innovative artists works collaboratively across the globe to deepen the understanding of darkness immersion and its potentially therapeutic benefits.
Our mission is to advance the field of darkness therapy through rigorous research and comprehensive facilitator training programs. We value multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural perspectives in the exploration of darkness immersion, its potential insights on consciousness, and to increase the responsible accessibility of this profound therapeutic method.

About the Founders
The Darkness Therapy Institute was founded by the interdisciplinary team of Emma Swan, Alex Pisker, and Ashleigh Corker. They integrate their backgrounds in psychology and complex systems science, acupuncture and meditation, and Internal Family Systems therapy and mindful leadership to advance darkness therapy as an ethical, evidence-based, and human-centered modality. Through the Darkness Therapy Institute, the founders seek to cultivate a field that is collaborative rather than proprietary, integrative rather than reductionist, and grounded in both humility and curiosity. Their shared vision is to foster responsible innovation in the study and practice of darkness therapy by supporting clients, practitioners, and institutions to explore altered states of consciousness in ways that contribute to human flourishing.
